The short version

Some of the links on Overland Addiction are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer or manufacturer may pay us a small commission. It never costs you anything extra, and the price you pay is the same either way.

What a commission does not buy

It does not buy a recommendation. We have written about products that pay us nothing, and we have told readers not to buy products that would have paid us well. If those two things ever stop being true, this site is worth nothing to you and there is no point in us running it.

Concretely, the rules we hold ourselves to:

• We buy the gear we test with our own money. Where something was sent to us free or on loan, the article says so, in the article.
• Picks are chosen before we look at whether a commission exists. Plenty of our recommendations pay us nothing at all.
• When we return a product, we say we returned it, and why.
• Anything a brand has paid for is labelled as sponsored or partner content, clearly, on the page. It is never mixed in with editorial picks.
• Every article that contains affiliate links says so at the top, before you have read a single recommendation.

Directory listings

The camper brands in our directory are listed because they build campers, not because they pay us. No manufacturer can buy a listing, a specification change, or a better position. If that changes, this page will change with it.

Why we do it this way

Running a directory and testing gear costs money. Affiliate commission is the least intrusive way we have found to cover it: no paywall, no pop-ups, no selling your email address. The trade is that we owe you complete honesty about it, which is what this page is for.
